Clean Bandit are a UK chart-topping, eccentric musical quartet from London. At the instrumental core are Jack Patterson (bass / sax / deck), Luke Patterson (drums), Grace Chatto and Neil Amin-Smith (both strings). Forming a formidable creative powerhouse, Clean Bandit work with a variety of budding vocalists to make each of their productions a rare gem in the musical quarry.
Clean Bandit debuted on Black Butter with the classically doused, spontaneous and unique “A&E” / “Nightingale“, showcasing homegrown London talent at it’s finest. The single was Radio 1 A-listed and reached Number 1 on the iTunes Electronic Chart. The band then went onto feature on Gorgon City‘s dance floor destroyer “Intentions” before hitting the UK Top 20 with “Mozart’s House“.
The band have capitalised on the successes of 2013 with the smash new single ‘Rather Be‘ featuring the vocal talents of another Black Butter family member and rising star Jess Glynne. Co-penned with Disclosure hitmaker Jimmy Napes, ‘Rather Be’ blends classical-inspired violin with uplifting house beats, the result; an infectious sound that couldn’t have arrived at a better time and the fastest selling UK number 1 of 2014, shifting 163,000 copies in its first week of release. The accompanying video which, like all their videos, the band shot themselves, landed its premiere on the Guardian website. Describing it Jack said: “[The song] is quite romantic, but the video is about a Japanese fan of the band that becomes delirious and has hallucinations of band members and our logo appearing unexpectedly in her daily life as a chef.” Clean Bandit – ‘Rather Be’ ft Jess Glynne is out now.
Message from the band themselves: “Thank you for all your amazing support making Rather Be the UK number 1 for two weeks now! Lots of you have been asking about the debut album and we’re happy to say that ‘New Eyes’ is finally here!
